Parent Pathways 

Parent Pathways is a voluntary service providing personalised assistance and financial support to eligible parents and carers of children under 6. Focused on your individual needs, our program pairs you with a qualified mentor to deliver flexible guidance tailored to your personal, study, or work goals. Access support at your own pace, with resources for childcare, education, job preparation and more.

How Parent Pathways Can Help

With Parent Pathways, you’ll work with a dedicated mentor to develop a personalised plan for your future.

We offer a wide range of support, including:

  • Language or literacy programs
  • Help finding a childcare centre and support with childcare costs
  • Financial assistance, such as covering the cost of training courses, textbooks, or purchasing a computer
  • Access to driving lessons and support with licence applications
  • Referrals to services like financial information support, counselling, parenting support or family and domestic violence assistance
  • Training opportunities, such as short courses at your local TAFE
  • Career guidance

This program is entirely voluntary, allowing you to join, pause, or return whenever it suits your needs.

Are you Eligible?

Parent Pathways is for parents and carers who:

  • have a child under six years old
  • are not in paid employment
  • live in an area where there is a Parent Pathways provider, including: Slacks Creek, Hillcrest, Loganlea, Crestmead, Beenleigh, Yarrabilba, Jimboomba, Beaudesert or Forest Lake

Receiving one of these payments:

  • Parenting Payment
  • Carer Payment
  • Special Benefits

Eligibility includes those who are not getting a Centrelink payment, and are either:

  • under 22 years old
  • an early school leaver (parents who don’t have a year 12 qualification)
  • a First Nations parent or carer.

YFS delivers Parent Pathways from eight welcoming, child-friendly locations in Logan, all with wheelchair and pram access, baby change facilities, free parking, and public transport nearby.
