We support children’s wellbeing by helping you build strong parenting skills and stronger families.

One of our key goals is helping you feel confident and connected to your community. This can support your children’s developmental needs.

Programs

Step by Step - Young Families Programs

All Step-by-Step groups are safe spaces for young parents (under 25 years) and their children who live in Logan. Each space is co-designed with the young parents to ensure it is tailored to their interests and needs.

All groups are aligned and occur within the school term.

We know life can get busy, so all groups are flexible, come when you can.

Transportation available for all groups if you live in the Logan area. 

All young parents are welcome, so if you have a friend then bring them along too!!

BUMP 2 JUMP: Playgroup

Run by: Jo and Eli

For all young mums, dads, and care givers, to come together and spend quality time connecting with their bubs.

This is the place to learn about your child’s development and fun activities to build attachment with your child. Each week we have a different theme, incorporating story time, music, dance, arts, crafting and sensory play, that everyone in attendance can follow and take part in.

Held at the Kingston State School FamilylinQ in a fun-filled, safe, and colourful environment.

Occurs Friday 10am – 12pm (school terms)

Young Mums Squad

Run by: Jo and Eli

A weekly space for young mums to connect with one another through new experiences, activities, shared meals and discussion around mutual interests and life experiences. Some activities included throughout the term might include Bowling, Mini Golf, Pottery, and Self Care pampering to name just a few.

To allow an opportunity for young mums to focus on themselves, occasional care is available for any children over 12 months at KENG (funded by YFS). Bubs under 12 months are more than welcome to join mum too.

Occurs Wednesday 10am – 1pm (school terms)

Young Dads Squad

Run by: Steve

A weekly space for young dads to come and hang out together, connecting through new experiences, activities, shared meals and discussion around mutual interests and life experiences. Some activities included throughout the term are Bowling, Fishing, Mini Golf, Tennis to name just a few.

Locations change dependant on the activity

Occurs Thursday 4pm – 8pm (school terms)

Bullang Talgunn

Run by: Kiki and Jess (One Mob Community) & Dale (YFS)

A culturally safe space for First Nations young mothers to come together in a relaxed, social environment to help navigate parenting. This is a collaboration between YFS and One Mob Community, who are two strong First Nation young mothers living in Logan. 

Activities have been carefully crafted to support the use of culture to connect with each other and your babies. These activities include crafting, clap sticks, indigenous costume making and photograph sessions.

Burrabilly

Burrabilly works with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families and children to help them manage life’s ups and downs and live safe, thriving, happy and healthy lives.

Functional Family Therapy–Child Welfare (FFT-CW®)

If your family is at risk of child safety intervention, our FFT-CW® therapists might be able to offer you short-term family-based therapy.

Therapists work with families over four to seven months to create change that will assist everyone to function in a more positive and productive way.

The program starts by looking at your family’s strengths and what is working to keep your children safe.

FFT-CW® can help your family solve current problems and develop new strategies, skills and confidence for resolving future issues.

Who is eligible?

Families from the Browns Plains and Beaudesert areas and surrounds who need additional support to keep their children safe and well.

Intensive Family Support

Our Intensive Family Support team provides intensive case management.

This means they will work closely with you to help you get the skills and support you need to care for and protect your children and help your family work well.

They will back you to strengthen your practical skills, parenting skills and your confidence, which supports your communication and stress management skills.

They will also help you connect with culture, friends, family and the community.

If you need other services, they are there to help you find what you need.

Who is eligible?

Families from the Browns Plains and Beaudesert areas and surrounds who need additional support to keep their children safe and well.

Assessment and Service Connect

If your family has come to the attention of Child Safety Services, they can bring our Assessment and Service Connect team in to assist you and your children while they conduct their investigation and assessment.

Our team can work with you to make quick connections to the right services that will help you keep your children safe.

Who is eligible?

Families with an open investigation at the Bayside, Beaudesert, Beenleigh, Browns Plains, Logan Central and Loganlea Child Safety Service centres.

Our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is outlined in our Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy.

YFS has signed the Logan Children’s Charter. The Charter is part of the Logan Together movement. It encourages businesses and organisations throughout the city to create child-friendly spaces and keep the needs of kids front of mind.
